Throughout history, world championship belts have been held by nearly men of Italian or Italian tradition. Some of the names in boxing, of Italian tradition, were such as Rocky Marciano and Willie Pep. From the 1920’s throughout the 1950’s, the light-weight division of boxing was probably the most famous and competitive in the sport. Numerous fighters that were great carved careers out. The Pennsylvania born Angott was among the busiest fighters of the era. He and lots of the greats in welterweight divisions and the lightweight fought over his career he amassed 135 bouts. He retained it for nearly 3 years in a division and won the crown.

Ambers won the rematch between the two the subsequent year to reclaim the light-weight crown. Over his 9 calendar year career, Lou Ambers won 88 bouts and lost only 8, with 6 draws.
