Bengals claim QB Kittner off
waivers
Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) -
The Cincinnati Bengals claimed quarterback Kurt Kittner off
waivers Friday.
Kittner, who was released by the
Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday, will compete for the third quarterback
job, along with seventh-round draft choice Casey Bramlet out of
Wyoming and free agent Scott Rislov from San Jose State.
The Bengals plan to start
second-year QB Carson Palmer next season, with last year's starter
and NFL Comeback Player of the Year John Kitna serving as his
backup.
The 6-foot-2, 221-pound Kittner
made four starts and played in seven games for the Falcons in
2003, completing 44-of-114 passes for 391 yards and two touchdown.
He was intercepted six times.
Kittner didn't play with Atlanta
in 2002 after being selected in the fifth round of the NFL Draft.
